Subject: 2016 Worthley Pond Scholarship Information
GREAT NEWS TO ALL OUR GRADUATING SENIORS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS who are a member of the Worthley Pond Association, or  child or a grandchild of a WORTHLEY POND ASSOCIATION MEMBER !    IT IS SCHOLARSHIP TIME  !!!!!!      We changed the dates this  year to a later time to see if this time frame would work better for the busy high school and college student.  WE UNDERSTAND that the school year is a busy time for  all of you so we will try this time frame for this year and then re- evaluate it before we do the 2017 Scholarship.
Once again Worthley Pond Association is proud to announce that it is sponsoring the Worthley Pond Scholarship to be awarded in 2016.  This Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been accepted as a full time student   or to one who is already a full time student at a two or  four year college or university of higher education. The Award will be given the second semester of the year awarded once the Worthley Pond Association has received proof from the institution that the student is in good standing and will be returning for the second semester. Exceptions to this rule are: if the recipient is already a matriculated student and is returning for the Fall semester, the Award may be given for that semester. Other criteria for the Award recipient is that the recipient must be a member, or a child, or grandchild of a member for the years July 1, 2015 to July 2016 and must join again for the year, July 1, 2016 to July 2017 before the Award is given.
Applicants who have applied before and received the Award may apply again. Applicants who applied before and did NOT receive the Award are encouraged to apply again as your previous entries were very good .We  also encourage NEW applicants to apply.
In order to make the decision of the Award very impartial, the Essays will be judged by a panel of three judges who do not know who the applicants are or who the other judges are. The only person who will know the name of the Judges or the Applicants will be Sherry Clement- the Scholarship Coordinator who was not a judge last year and will not be a judge this year while serving as Coordinator.
Applicants this year are asked to write on the following topic:
MY FAVORITE MEMORY OF WORTHLEY POND
This essay is to be 300 words or less. It will be judged on
the following criteria:
1. Theme- How well does the writer stick to the theme?
2. Appeal – How well does the essay appeal to the reader?
3. Spelling- Compared to the other entries – how correct is the
spelling in the essay?
4. Grammar/punctuation – Compared to the other entries- how
correct is the grammar and punctuation?
5. Overall: Which one stands out to the reader
Entries MUST be submitted BY Deadline date  of July 25, 2016 –
